say yes and figure it out

I’m not a big fan of proclaiming any one thing “the secret” or “the thing” responsible for success.

There’s no miracle button, no magic pill. And certainly no “secret” that, once unlocked, will suddenly put wind in your sails and take you to Successville.

If you want something, you need to take every opportunity.

And when I say that, I don’t mean stomping all over folks in a vicious battle for upward momentum.

After all, the toes you step on today could be connected to the ass you have to kiss tomorrow.

Above all else, be kind and respectful. But don’t take any shit from those who would walk all over you.

What I mean by taking every opportunity is taking action and taking chances.

No one is going to come to you and say, “I know you’ve been dreaming of doing this for awhile… here’s the perfect project that matches 100% of your current skill set and is 100% in your wheelhouse. I know you’re going to knock it out of the park, so you were naturally the only choice.”

I’m pretty sure that reads ridiculously out loud, but it’s how a lot of us operate, even if unspoken.

We dream. We sit. We wait…

…for?

The right project? The right people? The right opportunity? Luck?

Let me tell you something about luck. You MAKE luck.

You create infinite luck by being prepared and taking every opportunity. Luck is simple math… preparation + opportunity, repeated until you get the right combination that means you win.

Don’t wait for the perfect fit. Don’t wait to be comfortable, or to be confident.

If you see something that you think you MIGHT be able to figure out or do well at, seize the opportunity.

Say yes, and then figure it out. That’s the only way to truly grow and become exceptional at what you do.

I, for one, would never try anything if I waited for everything to be perfect. Thanks to RFL8 in general and you in particular, I figured this out:)

    Great message, as always…

That’s something you have in common with most of humanity my dear, myself included on that one. This post is as much a reminder to me as it is to everyone out there struggling with the next step. Here’s to many more yeses in our futures!

Great advice Coach Colee. It sounds quite simple when you put it this way. We over-complicate things by over-thinking and analyzing everything to a stand-still.

It is simple! It’s just that simple isn’t always EASY.
